"The Power of Advocacy” is a Social Action Luncheon hosted by the San Francisco-Peninsula Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. in partnership with the Delta San Francisco-Peninsula Foundation. Our Social Action Luncheon is part of our May Week programming. During May Week, we pay tribute to academic and professional achievement. We will honor our local Scholarship Recipients and Community partners as well as an amazing sorority sister for her professional and community contributions.
This year's luncheon takes on special significance as we celebrate a historic milestone: there are record numbers of Black leaders in major cities in San Mateo County! This groundbreaking achievement serves as the backdrop for our discussions on the state of the Black community, strategies for empowerment, and fostering advocacy among all citizens. The theme of our event is “The Power of Advocacy!”
We will kick off the afternoon with a panel discussion of "Black Advocacy in San Mateo County: Confronting Systemic Inequities in Health, Education and Policing." This crucial discussion aims to shed light on the challenges faced by the Black and other communities of color in San Mateo County.
