POLITICAL AWARENESS AND INVOLVEMENT
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has been a leader in Social Action since its founding in February, 1913. Our first public act was participation in the Womens Suffragist March in Washington, D.C. Today we work in partnership with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, the San Mateo County NAACP, the League of Women Voters and other groups to advocate for voting and civil rights including the elimination of health disparities and homelessness, as well as the participation of women in political leadership.

Social Action Luncheon
"The Power of Advocacy” hosted in partnership with the Delta San Francisco-Peninsula Foundation, takes on special significance as we celebrate a historic milestone: record numbers of Black leaders in San Mateo County! This groundbreaking achievement serves as the backdrop for our discussions on the state of the Black community in San Mateo County, strategies for empowerment, and fostering advocacy among all citizens.

The panel discussion of "Black Advocacy in San Mateo County: Confronting Systemic Inequities in Health, Education and Policing" was led by Regina Wallace-Jones, former mayor of East Palo Alto and featured Maurice Goodman, Vice-Mayor of Millbrae and Lisa Gautier, former mayor of East Palo Alto and current candidate for San Mateo Supervisor.

Black Advocacy Day
We join with San Francisco Alumnae, other chapters of the Bay Area Pan-Hellenic Council and local community-based organizations in advocating for issues important to the Black Community.
